It was ok。 It had some pacing issues, characters were interesting enough to make me keep reading。 Not very memorable as I already forgot some details of the book right after finishing it。

I am no good at reviews but THIS BOOK。 When I say I cannot praise it higher I mean it。 I’m a simple girl。 I love a good fantasy book with romance and action。 And this book delivered。 If you loved ACOTAR, you will love this。 The cast of characters are diverse, lovable and dynamic。 We follow the story of Remy, a Red Witch who fled her home Court in the High Mountains after the Northern Court King invaded and slaughtered the Royal Family and anyone they could get their hands on。 On the run with two I am no good at reviews but THIS BOOK。 When I say I cannot praise it higher I mean it。 I’m a simple girl。 I love a good fantasy book with romance and action。 And this book delivered。 If you loved ACOTAR, you will love this。 The cast of characters are diverse, lovable and dynamic。 We follow the story of Remy, a Red Witch who fled her home Court in the High Mountains after the Northern Court King invaded and slaughtered the Royal Family and anyone they could get their hands on。 On the run with two brown witches and a bounty on her head just for being a red witch, Remy finds herself caught up in a dangerous quest to recover lost talismans of the High Mountain Court in the company of four powerful Fae Warriors from the Eastern Court。 This book delivers everything a good Fantasy should (in my eyes)。 Love, heartbreak, loss。 It’s full of popular tropes like Enemies to lovers, found family, one bed, shared horse and MORE。 It leaves you guessing friend or foe right until the very last page。 It’s fast paced, action packed and leaves you yearning for more and more。 You turn the pages because you physically cannot put the book down。 It’s driven and exciting and soul crushing all in one beautiful cover。 I absolutely loved it 。。。more

PredictableWell written but predictable and shallow。 No real depth to the friendships, family, or mate。 Speeds through things that should be slowed and we lose a lot of development。

The ending is what I struggled with the most, the ending was a bit rushed, I kind of wanted this to either be a longer book or for the story to continue in a second novel。 It was a little anti-climatic。 The reveal of a character that was believed to be dead for the majority of the book to then die within the spaces of a few pages so that Remy could take their place, just seemed a waste of a character。 They brought nothing to the story, and the actions attributed to this character could have easily been explained by other more fleshed out characters in the book such as the High Priestess。 Overall this is an enjoyable read, it does not necessarily stand out from the crowd of books based around the Fae and magic, but one I will certainly be picking up again。 。。。more

Writing style is super clunky to the point where I could only handle about 30% of the book。 No contractions, no compound sentences, just really short, to the point sentences that don't really paint the picture you'd expect in a fantasy world。 Writing style is super clunky to the point where I could only handle about 30% of the book。 No contractions, no compound sentences, just really short, to the point sentences that don't really paint the picture you'd expect in a fantasy world。 。。。more

This has quickly become one of my favorite books。 I cannot wait for the second book to come out in November! If you love fantasy stories with a little spice, action and twists you will love this story。 I also love the representation of POC and LGBTQIA+。 Fantastic!!

Definitely enjoyed this one。 There was some predictability in the plot, and a few places where the journey pacing felt a little drug out, but I still found myself sucked into the adventure, excitement, and obviously the romance。 Features violent and mature sexual scenes not appropriate for teens or a “YA” audience。 Definitely would categorize this as “adult” fantasy。

I came across this author on TikTok and her bubbly, happy personality drew me to her so, I added her book debut to my TBR。 I loved it! This is a hard book for me to review。 Things I loved-The characters, the LGBTQ+ representation, the descriptions, the fight scenes。I went into this excited and the beginning really pulled me in。 Then I felt like I started to see too many similarities to SJM’s work and I was not enjoying it because I felt like I could not separate the two。 I was trying to stay in the world but I was being pulled back into SJM’s by all the similarities。 The ending was amazing, those last 5 chapters were solid。 I w This is a hard book for me to review。 Things I loved-The characters, the LGBTQ+ representation, the descriptions, the fight scenes。I went into this excited and the beginning really pulled me in。 Then I felt like I started to see too many similarities to SJM’s work and I was not enjoying it because I felt like I could not separate the two。 I was trying to stay in the world but I was being pulled back into SJM’s by all the similarities。 The ending was amazing, those last 5 chapters were solid。 I will still continue the series because I’m invested in the characters。 。。。more

You can feel the love of fantasy as you read this book。 It has tropes woven throughout but deals with them in a new way that makes you want to read more。 Remy is a red witch, in a world where being a red witch is dangerous。 When she is thrown into an adventure she never anticipated, Remy wonders if she could change the world for the better!

I've spent a year trying to find a book with the Fae in it that is amazing and I have almost given up until A。K。 Mulford published this。I need a plot that starts from the get-go, emotional character development, a solid magic system that makes sense, and world-building that doesn't bore me with exposition but is detailed enough so that it feels vibrant。 The High Mountain Court delivered on all of those points and so much more。 There are so many great scenes in this book that I want to shout abou I've spent a year trying to find a book with the Fae in it that is amazing and I have almost given up until A。K。 Mulford published this。I need a plot that starts from the get-go, emotional character development, a solid magic system that makes sense, and world-building that doesn't bore me with exposition but is detailed enough so that it feels vibrant。 The High Mountain Court delivered on all of those points and so much more。 There are so many great scenes in this book that I want to shout about, but this is a spoiler-free review。This is about a witch, Remy but she's the wrong sort who's being hunted down by Fae witch hunters and a handsome Fae prince, Hale comes along and convinces her to join him and his warriors to go on a quest for two hidden talismans。 A K Mulford did a great job with writing complex characters, even the ones who appear much later in the book, even if you don't know them well now, I suspect we will learn more about them in the future books。 For anyone who has ever felt imposter syndrome or too scared to live a full life because of the dangers, Remy is a wonderfully relatable character。 And I suspect Hale will have fan art made of him in the near future。 You learn to love everyone who helps Remy and Hale on their quest and when something bad happens you feel it in your heart。 It's really hard to write a non-bias review because I loved this book so much。 But I hope it has convinced you to read it。 。。。more

More like 2。5。So so much potential。 This book reminds me of ACOTAR and thats why I found myself reading it。 The ending felt rushed and too neatly tied in a bow。 There were other things that did drive me insane。 Not a bad debut novel。 Will be reading book 2。

I loved this book, but I should worn you that it’s fast paced and every character makes you NEED to read the next - so make sure you’re comfortable when you open the pages, you won’t want to put it down。 The world building is beautiful, you can’t help but fall in love with the characters and the plot has many twists and turns。

While I enjoyed the plot of this book and the world building, I was disappointed about how quickly the author move through this book。 I felt like I really never formed a connection with any of the characters because of how fast it moved。 And in some ways it was hard to keep up with what was going on because time/scenes moved so quickly。 I wish the author would’ve spent more time going into more detail and slowed down。 I felt like the book was rushed。

The only reason I gave this book 4 stars is because as much as it tried to be careful of representing everything, it still fell into the trap of the fae being basically pointy eared humans。 This is just personal preference of course but I prefer my fae being truth-twisting, iron fearing, rhyming little mischievous bastards。 But preferences aside, this book was a really nice read!
